Flan As Food As Art

I made a flan today. Well let’s be accurate: the flan is in the oven and disaster is not yet out of reach. The Mexican in me wants to believe that making flan is somehow encoded in my DNA. Some say this is so. Others seem to think that good flan is equal parts luck and skill.

Just in case my creation is inedible, I decided to use the beautiful caramelized sugar sheet as a photo filter. So I give you the collection free from any digital trickery.
