What they don't tell you

It is clear to me now that the people who wear I HEART NY shirts do not live here. If anything, they are one of the many hooks that draw unsuspecting opportunists to the big apple. Then like drug dealers who give the first hit free, New York shows up one day to collect its due.

By this I mean the following:

I finally got my first official paycheck from the City of New York. Being from Texas, I was prepared for the Federal Income tax, and I had even readied myself for New York State Income tax. I was not, however, expecting the City Income tax.
